A few years back, I got a brain scan for something unrelated. They found some "unusual" brain activity, whatever that means, referred me to a psychologist, and a few rounds of stuff I presume were tests later, I got a statement from the psychologist.

No particularly hard upbringing, nothing really standout. My brain just doesn't into empathy. I got told a bunch of shit about how it's a complex issue, and so on, but I kinda just rolled with it. I'd already gotten by just fine up to then, apparently it isn't uncommon for sociopaths to "fake" empathy even to their own knowledge, and you really can just not know.

I don't torture animals or want to kill people, far from it, I just literally cannot tell the difference between a human and something like a dog or cat that talks. Except I like humans more. Favorite animal, really.

In research, usually psychopathy is innate and can be detected by MRI, while sociopathy is not and is product of trauma playing into personality traits that are already there, so I find it kind of weird you use the latter term if it was detected by brain scan. That sounds kind of strange too, because there's so much going on with the brain, I doubt looking at something unrelated they'd just happen to find an abnormal condition like psychopathy at the same time.

I've researched that myself, and yes, I agree it's odd. I didn't keep seeing that psychologist, unfortunately. At the time, I figured it was a non-issue, but now that I've poked around, I'd really like to ask more questions.
