That's a portion of what absolutely obliterated my self esteem three years ago. I was on holiday abroad with a few friends, and they wanted to go out the night we got there for a few drinks. I declined and went to bed early. They wear loud coming in that night and woke me and they didn't realize how thin the walls were before they began to absolutely rip into me. Have no idea what the living in the past comment was about and I couldn't believe they threw a fit because I wanted an early night. It makes you wonder if they were legitimately that stupid to talk so loud or if they were just being intentionally vicious and hoping I would hear it. I'm guessing the later.

That was just a segment of it. The first bit that my ears perked to when I realized they were talking about me. They essentially ganged up and buried me, saying they'd already regretted bringing me. I actually have a pretty decent job (technician at a water treatment plant), so I can brush that one aside. Hell I even have a car and I'm getting ready to put the down payment on a condo. No problem with the first one. But the second one really hurts.

At least with my friends I can pull off the "I had sex once, it was gross" charade. But I feel I can't lie to my doctor. And I know that he is just trying his very best to uphold his professional demeanour, even though he clearly thinks I'm some kind of loser.

You can always pick yourself up. There is always community college or trade school. It's not over yet.

That being said, you will spend the rest of your life thinking yourself a failure and being resentful and jealous of people with university degrees. Because deep down you know they're better than you, yet you don't want to admit it. Believe me, been there and done that. I would know.
