I lament how they changed the meaning of the word meme.

I get confused about how people judge you for the memes you post.
Shit is just beyond me

I agree. Meme has basically replaced the word 'joke' in society. Every time I hear someone describe something remotely humorous I head 'that's a meme'. Any time I see something described, meme or not, it's a meme. I don't get it. Why is it a meme? It's not a meme. What is happening?

4chan has always had a huge influence on internet culture. And internet culture is mainstream culture by now.
This place will come up with something else. And eventually it will get stolen as well.
