But the self checkout clerk is told by their device to check and make sure the weighted item is what was actually coded in.

But where I work no one gives a fuck and doesn't even check, so just watch what the clerk is doing, if they're standing somewhere else not paying attention you can buy nothing but bananas.

Come on pal. There's no magical meat sensor in the self-checkout area. You can take literally any item, make sure the barcode doesn't scan, and type in 4011 for bananas. A rotisserie chicken, shrimp, pint of ice cream, etc.

Usually Paypal would sort it out amicably. I'm only commenting because in my experience buyers are incredibly stupid\dishonest.

I never steal anything at the self checkout cause I'm autistic and avoid all eye contact with store staff/security watching me, which I'm sure to them looks suspicious like I'm trying to hide something, when the only thing I'm hiding is my own face and eyes from other people emoting towards me. So in the even they ask to check my bags I can call them out for discriminating against autistic people.
