I do? I spent a lot of years locked in my room isolated. Where I developed essentially agoraphobia. During this time I learned to become an observer of the world, rather than a participant.

From this perspective I was happy with basic living essentials. But I spent a year in therapy and got diagnosed with adhd, the combination of those two really fixed my anxiety.

The point is, I still live as an observer, but now I as I play along I genuinely enjoy the ride.

Life is a sea of negatives, but you'll be dead soon, learn to enjoy the swimming in it in the mean time.

Honestly it's more a function of improving circumstances and a better perspective on things.

My parents made me go to medical school. I was always pretty smart growing up, but I really didnt like science or biology or any of the shit that medicine entailed. I liked math a lot more, and I was really good at it. I wanted to be an engineer or an accountant, something where i could work with numbers.

but that was never good enough, so i somehow got strongarmed into medical school. I was pretty depressed around that time too (actual medical depression, not the meme kind). On top of that, the further into school I got, the more i realized that there was nothing in medicine for me. My parents wanted me to be a radiologist (i hate computers), i thought i wanted to be an emergency room doctor (it seemed like a sexy job, even if i didnt really like it) Considering I had depression like a motherfucker (sleeping like 15 hours a day) and really didnt like medical school, i flunked out. Not making excuses, its just kind of hard to keep up with the work when you can barely bring yourself to open a book about a subject you hate, you know? And what would the payoff be? working bullshit hours for the rest of my life in a job i hate?

Took me awhile to realize, but there actually was something in medicine for me: psychiatry. It was the only field i could actually relate to. I had never given it much thought because they have a reputation of not making very much money... which is half true. They make less money than most doctors because the average psychiatrist works somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 hours a week. It gave me something to be hopeful for.

It took some doing, but they actually let me back into school if i could come up with enough cash to start over from first year. I pulled it off and I'm about to graduate now. It was a lot easier the second time, because i had seen all the material and i was working towards a goal. I'm not 100% set yet, but its better.
