I think chess is a neat game but I'm not cool enough to learn all the openings, strategies, and whatnot.
I've been stuck around 1430 rating for months now
I watch a lot of youtube guides but I just don't seem to be able to get better and memorize things
>>39623677
Nah.I'm quite sure anyone could play chess if they put enough effort in practicing. You don't even need openings at first, just basic patterns, then some simple openings. The strategies are also mostly dependent on pattern recognition, too. You can do it if you try hard enough and play enough.
>>39623728
What do you think you have problems with, exactly?
Also,what 1430 rating?Lichess,Chess.com,USCF?
Crab opening is best opening.

lichess classical time controls rating
I think most of the time I play bad because I'm not actively thinking about the moves or im drunk
Not OP, but I've been a noob since I was a kid (28 now). I think I'll post my gameplay here.
First moves
Second moves
Third moves; attempting computer to take action with their Queen.
>>39623816
Yeah, actively thinking about moves does help.
Do you have any other problems, other than that?
Fourth moves
Of course, I've distracted myself.

Just give us an algebraic notation.Don't spam with screenshots.
Seventh moves
Guess I could have moved the bishop further...
>>39623948
I'm too noob to know the notations.
Eighth moves
I have a mobile app, where I can impossibly beat the 1430 elo computer. And on lichess I can beat stockfish a.i. 2 easily.
Main difference being that on mobile he gives nothing for free and thinks like 3 moves ahead, where as a.i. level 2 is just retarded.
Ninth move
>>39623980
lichess computer is eays because it gives away pieces for nothing all the time, I doubt the rating they give it is true
Tenth move

Please read
chess is ruined by being a game of memorisationa nd training rather than creativity and skill
the solution, of course, is to take turns placing each of your 16 pieces , ending up witha different arrangement to start the main game with.

Makes more sense.
tfw 1350 lichess rating
i always just end up trading all pieces and then win 50/50 in some boring endgame
https://lichess.org/k0Vb240Q/white
I recreated anon's game in lichess so you can use the stockfish analyzer and stuff
>>39624088
Holy shit.
That's very interesting!
>>39624570
Thanks, man, I'll check it out.
And to bypass the robot...

>>39624694
Do ask questions if you don't get some stuff that is recommended,by the way.
>>39624797
I understand I could have ended the game a long time ago, but I wasn't paying attention to much of the board.
>>39625041
Yeah. You will get better though. You should put the level up on the cpu.
Fried Fox FTW.
Destroys all theory and I win more since I play it.
I didn't notice their rook had a clear shot.
What is the best way to learn chess ?
>>39626460
No such thing yet,my man.Are you a complete beginner or do you know some stuff works?I think we can recommend stuff to get you started.
FIDE 1707, Lichess somewhere between 1800 and 1900 in """classical""" and blitz. Been in a chess club since 2011. If you have any relevant questions you think I can answer, come with them.
>>39626621
I know how the pieces move, played a few games online but even the bot level 2 can get me out
