I feel bad whenever I see Megumin posted, I did watch the show several times both seasons over because I enjoyed it so much, so I decided I'd read the novels as well. I read the first twelve volumes of the main light novel series and also all the spinoffs. The whole thing goes nowhere, the writing is just bad, most people follow it in part because of the romance but it just doesn't progress and you can see the writer is just postponing the whole thing shamelessly because the more volumes people buys the more money he makes.

The author is milking all the autists' shekels dry and never delivering. That's how I've understood why light novels have the reputation of being addictive, and realizing this is done in most anime apart from light novels made me come to hate all japanese media. And probably most asian media is the same too, asians in general care too much about the money and they very often neglect the quality of their product if it gets in the way of making good profits.

I felt like I've been played like a damn fiddle. Never again.

Never ever. The show was just publicity for the novels, which is where the money is made. This happens very often, many shows are just so people buy the manga or light novel it's based from.
