I was in a cheeki breeki mood and started playing Shadow of Chernobyl again. At first I was going to play Call of Chernobyl (a mod that combines all three games in the series into one giant open world game), but I'm going to wait a bit to see if they release an updated version soon. It'll soon be exactly a year since the last one.

The Norse have awesome ideas but Salic monarchy, which you're pretty much forced into, fucks it up because it forces you to divide the kingdom between your sons and you can't pick another government type for nearly 100-150 years so every time your monarch dies you have a 50/50 chance of your kingdom being divided between two or three heirs effectively reducing the size of your nation by one-half or one-third nearly ever time your king dies. Even worse is that it destroys old nations and updates them so I lose the Norse ideas because Jutes will be turned into Denmark and Wales or Denmark and Ireland or Denmark and Sweden or Denmark and Scotland, or a combination of three of those, and I have to chose between the two (or sometimes three) and they always have piss poor ideas compared to Jutes.

Shogun 2 is one of my favorite games at the moment. Currently not as obsessed as i was over the summer, but i still fancy a campaign every once in a while. I just wish the multiplayer was more active, since duo campaigns are super fun.

Rome 1 was more arcadey with units. Shotgun 2 was when CA went pseudo-realism so all the troops are the same; Rome factions were at least unique with units even if it was ridiculous

It's still an enjoyable game. I spend hours setting up custom battles figuring out the best small army possible while still spending all the funds.

Shogun 2 was the closest CA ever came to replacing RTW, but it still wasn't as good. Not to mention nowhere near ad moddable. I logged over 3500 hours on RTW multiplayer, mods and modding myself

Oxygen Not Included is a fun game I recently found out about.
Made by the same company that made Don't Starve. Art style is the same, but this time it's SciFi.
Has a lot of stuff to do and things to look out for, with neat gas and liquid physics, temperature and pressure simulations, which you are required to manipulate in order to survive.
Basically Don't Starve + Terraria + Rimworld but along with a colony you also have to make your own ecosystem from scratch.

I just can't get into those kind of strategy games or grand strategy games
