No, we are robots, beep boop
my old philosophy teacher went into great detail about this with me in private because i was curious, this is one of the most knowledgeable guys ive ever known
physically we are humans, mentally we are not, because we lack the basic human function of empathy and other things
he was a really cool guy and this didnt affect me at all

Are we really that off putting that people wounder this?

It depends on what defines human. We're the next step in evolution, but haven't diverged into becoming an entirely separate species yet. We're like the fish who first got extra limbs before they developed into actual legs.

B-but I'm pretty sure I can feel empathy. How can't I?

Even if you can feel it, you don't show it, therefore to the normies it may as well not even exist.
