Where do all these myths of college costing 100k come from?
>>
>25k/year
>4 year degree
>fuckhowdonumberswork.jpg
>>
but it does cost 100k where I live

obviously this can be mitigated with scholarships but the raw cost of living on campus for a 4 year degree is around $100k
>>
>>39530313
how the fuck do you spend 12k per semester?
>>
>>39530356
mine is 18k a semester
>>
>>39530356
12k a semester is the average for my state
>>
>>39530313
>25k/yr
HOW?
You spend 10k/yr tops on school. I was in school for 6 years and I only racked up 40k.
>>
>>39530398
tuition alone is $12k and that's at a state school. maybe it's less in backwater shitholes.
>>
>>39530294
>Where do all these myths of college costing 100k come from?

Mila Kunis' engagement ring COST $300,000.

That doesn't mean it was worth $300,000. Nor does it mean that all engagement rings cost that much. Nor does it mean that normal people should buy it. But that's what it cost.

College is similar. It costs what it costs. That doesn't mean a poor person without rich parents should take out $100,000 worth of student loans to pay for an arts degree with no career prospects. But that's what some degrees cost.

In other words OP. It's not a myth. It's just poor and stupid people being conned by universities into spending a hell of a lot of money of things they can't afford and don't need.
>>

>Backwater shitholes
For a second, I almost forgot I was in leafland. Disregard my previous message, I feel bad for you burgers.

Doesn't colleges like Yale and all cost more, plus dorms.
>>
>alaskabot
>oil revenue funds state schools
>tuition 4k/semester
>3.5k/semester state scholarship for doing well in high school
life is good
>>
>>39530294
I paid like maybe 3k (books, tuition, parking passes) for community college and 14k (books and tuition) for university. No financial aid or reduced tuition.

17k for a BA in political science from a mediocre state school and I still fill ripped off.
>>
>>39530640
When did you go to college?
>>
>>39530398
If you double down on your load and take 64 credit hours in a year it can cost more.
>>
>>39530398
Did you get 2 bachelor's in the 6 years?
>>
>>39530294
From dummies who live on-campus. They fucking rape your wallet, man. Wise people go to a community college for two years and transfer their credits to a university after the fact.

My desired education came up to 225k. I reasoned that if I want to go to college so I can make enough to buy a house, why would I spend what it costs to buy a house? Why not just buy the damn house? It doesn't make any goddamn sense. I can work and get paid while doing it to save up, or spend that time going to school and getting in debt while doing it which I'll have to pay off before buying a house... Who seriously falls for this shit?
>>
>>39531041
Including tax breaks or not including tax breaks?
>>
>>39531069
More people need to get HVAC certs and the like instead of dumb artsy-fartsy degrees. We'll never be in dire need of high school English teachers, but bet your ass that there's a dozen people in your town that need their A/C or heating fixed on the daily.
>>
>>39530294
god damn you guys just go to a bad school and get a free ride then you can stroke your ego all the time and not be poor

sure, if you don't spend much you can get it under 100k. I didnt get any scholarships and my parents make too much for financial aid

If your parents pay you can manipulate the tax code to get lots of money back by writing everything off, especially stuff that can't be proven either way. If you live at home and intern or work under the table you can also be claimed as a dependent in addition to that.
>>
>>39530906
No I was a brainlet and had to repeat a bunch of 1st year courses + I padded out my last 2 years into 3 years.

Just wanted to clarify this >>39531334
post

No. I didn't get any tax breaks or scholarships (although I feel like I should've gotten some scholarship money - I graduated with honors and did well in high school and community college for the most part).

I paid for my community college while working part time, and my father paid my tuition and living expenses while I was at university (2 years).

I attended a public university and paid in-state tuition.

Yeah but our taxes go to useful shit like fighter planes and Pablo's seven kids.

WHAT WE ALL PAID TOGHETHER

TOTAL COST NOT INCLUDING LIVING EXPENSES. LITERALLY EVERYTHING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY RELATED.

There was a big fee hike after I graduated. Like an additional 1k per quarter. My campus also had less fees than some other campuses because it was more of a commuter campus with nothing going on.
