Who here /antisocial/? How do you get along with others?

My biggest issue with other people is, I'm not much of a talker, and every friend I ever had talked a lot. They were also hypercritical of me, and would put me down constantly, so I would cut them off. When I made a new "friend" they would be the same person I cut off. Now I'm alone, and after my experiences with "friends" I prefer it this way.

I am asocial too much, but I don't have problems getting along with others when I need to. The difficult part is getting myself interested in elective socializing.

I told myself I was going to socialize this weekend, but instead I got drunk by myself in my room and listened to Frank Zappa while shitposting on here.

Being by myself is a surefire way to enjoy myself while socializing is a toss up. I've been by myself my entire life, so it may not be something I can change, which is a shame because I'm getting more well-adjusted as I get older.

Yeah, I was actually kind of extroverted when I was younger, but my parents became far stricter in high school which forced me to be alone far more and I grew accustomed to introversion. That stuck for awhile after high school, but now, every so often I can enjoy a small get-together if it's with people I like (I have met a couple people worth spending a little time with over the past few years).

I have to socialize to some extent with people I know when I run into them or interact with them for work/school. I enjoy that. But that's it as far as talking to anyone in real life goes. Anything outside of that is optional, and I usually just want to relax without having to think about anything unexpected that may come up in real social situations.

Nah, good friendships are worth hanging onto. I was friends with one guy for years who started getting really upset (passive aggressive, acting weird/off, blowing up about small things) and when I brought it up, he said he thought I was mean/a dick for more than a year or so in the past. He also told me he thought it was obvious he felt that way even though he didn't say anything.

The rest of my friends have stuck around (not that many, but they're good), but it showed me that the most important thing I ask out of friendship is honesty and straightforwardness, which I told them. Turns out, the other guy thought when I was joking around (calling him a faggot, like all my friends did with one another), seems like he took it seriously/personally, like he was a woman or something.

Only time a guy has ever acted like that around me. But usually, like you say, genuine friendship is like brotherhood.
