From my point of view, speaking as someone who has been on r9k since it was first created back in 2008, the solidification of the idea that there is a definitive "robot identity" synonymous with "depressed misfit" was a sign of decline for the board as a whole. It artificially constrains the breadth of discussion, and even the posters who consider themselves 'a robot' can see that the whole 'robot identity' leads more to pointless bickering about 'robot cred' than cultivate an environment conducive to those types. Discussions become meaningless spats about whether or not something really is "robot" rather than a place to discuss the things in themselves.

The entire conception of a "robot identity" is worthless though mostly because everyone who posts here considers themselves a "robot" just by posting here. Thus, "robot" becomes the individual's projection. This can be seen with how many threads are started "you can't be a robot if you are/are not X". Posters take attributes from themselves (the only acceptable judge of robothood) and proclaim that everyone who isn't like themselves aren't REAL robots. This thinking leads to the inevitable circlejerks where posters who share this rather inconsequential or unimportant attribute clump together and start their own general (trap general, gayfag general, britbots etc...).

Now don't get my words twisted to mean that everyone on r9k are equally valuable to the community or that everyone is equally "r9k" just by posting here. There IS such a thing as good posters and bad posters, and just because the idea of "robot identity" is fatuous doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a spirit of community on r9k, especially one that shuns & discourages the most flagrant shitposts and recycled content. The problem is when "robot" became PRESCRIPTIVE (you have to be X to be a robot) rather than DESCRIPTIVE like it was originally.

I don't know how one would accomplish this, or why it would matter. I think it's funny that you are aware that men can troll by pretending to be women but think there just had to be actual women doing the initial trolling; no way it was men picking on other men from the beginning.

The real problem with /r9k/ is that the users do not offer much original content or discussion, nor do they react positively to such discussion when it occurs. We have a lot of retread threads that just constantly run back over the same boring territory we ran over last week; that's a lot of 4chan but if you want to improve a board's quality, what you really need are users who will break out of those cycles and other users who will support them when they do.

Traps, gays, act like women. They all need to go. I was also thinking of making a 4chan account system. Now, this wouldn't be like any normal account system, it would be different.

All accounts will always have an "anonymous" alias on them, however you can only post when your account is let's say 1-2 years old. This would force people to lurk before posting.

If they added this feature now that would mean everyone would have to start from 0 days and 4chan would be dead for the next 1 year. So I'm not to sure if it is actually a good idea. And there is also the fact that if you forget the password you're fucked and have to wait a whole new year to post.

Also, make it do you can't use the words "fembot" or "femanon" or make it change itself to "roastie", the same way "f a m" is changed to "senpai".
