I can't maintain eye contact for more than 2 seconds unless it's somebody I know well.

Practice glancing at eyes, then do it for longer as you get used to it, like building a muscle thats how i did it.

I live in a small town, I make eye contact and say hello to everyone, and they do as well, even cute girls.

I was raised by my grandparents. And where they come from, making eye contact with strangers is actually really disrespectful.

Well, OP, Im cross-eyed so when I didn't wear sunglasses yet, not only would everyone stare at me, but no matter which fucking corner I decided to look at ONE OF MY EYES WOULD STILL BE DIRECTED AT SOMEONE, FUCK.

I can feel the uneasiness I cause when I unintentionally look at someone, some people even think if my eyes aren't alligned, I may aswell be fucking blind so they observe me the whole bus ride as if they are completely invisible.

Nowadays I just keep my eyes to the ground, at least then I avoid seeing the reactions.
