Did the three episode test and failed it. Making eroge, going through h games, obsessive otaku tendencies have been done to death (Oreimo, Eromanga-sensei, Kobayashi's dragon maid, Lucky Star, etc). 2d characters look nothing like 3d characters, main character is difficult to relate to (smokes, never played even a newgrounds dating sim, has a decent guy for a neighbor, has a good amount of book clutter). Does it get better? It's a lot of episodes and I'd prefer watching something that isn't dreary slice-of-life.

>Oreimo, Eromanga-sensei, Kobayashi's dragon maid, Lucky Star, etc
All that shit came after NHK you fucking faggot and lacks the authenticity of NHK. It's sugarcoated schlock for otaku who lack the drive for true introspection and want to live in a moe-filled dream bubble.
>hard to relate to smoking and having book clutter
Fucking kys normalfag scum
>>
>dismissing anime because it has tropes used in other anime

Do you just not watch anything made after the 70s?
>>
>>39460881
post your anime list
>>
>Oreimo, Eromanga-sensei, Kobayashi's dragon maid, Lucky Star
did you actually watch any of these?
is this bait?
>>
>>39460881
I like welcome to the NHK because it's so gritty and rough. It fully captures the throes of neet Dom, yet manages to fuck it's self over by introducing a girl.

Overall I'd give it a 7.8/10 but it's a /r9k/ classic. Watamote and re:life and yahari ore no seishun are better/ in the same category
>>
>>39461086
I know this is probably bait but Yahari is literally about a guy realizing the robotlife is the wrong way to live.
>>
>>39460974
It's authentic because the guy is scared of going outside and does stupid shit to convince himself to man up? Wow, what a great anime. I knew you'd call me a normie when you ran out of legitimate arguments and couldn't even say the show would be any different ten episodes from now.

>>39461029
Yes, knowing full well they weren't good, as long as they were enjoyable.
>>
Welcome to the NHK really doesn't get better over time so if you didn't like it, you were fine to DROP it. It doesn't stop being slice of lifey, although it becomes SLIGHTLY less slice of life over time as in the setting actually changes.

However the 3 episode test for anime really doesn't work. I know it's asking a lot for people to keep watching series they aren't into, but some of the best series I watched I really didn't like the first 3 episodes of, like Steins Gate and Cowboy Bebop. I thought NHK had an above-average message, especially for an r9k neet, but it was nothing to write home about, and generally I think it might be worth watching just because of its sheer popularity with people alike you. Was a 6/10 series for me personally though, not going to go out of my way to say it's a must-watch when there's a lot of other content I would rather people see.

If you're disgusted by Tropes you're really, really a fan of the wrong genre of creative works. Most genres get bogged down in derivative works, but Anime is especially bad for this and always has been, one should have seen how many derivatives of Sailor Moon there were. NHK is heavier on Anime tropes than most because it's largely a series for Otaku.

My latest obsession is reading books from past to present, at least in that way, novel ideas get introduced to the canon over time and you get to see the originals that people copy relentlessly.

so how do you even make the comparison to NHK theyre not even close.
>>
>>39461116
>It's authentic because the guy is scared of going outside and does stupid shit to convince himself to man up?
No, because it candidly shows the depths of depravity that ostracization and isolation brings about. There is no happy ending and the author himself is a relapsed hikikomori. Have fun with your trite otaku pandering bullshit though.
>>
>>39461103
Nigga did you even watch yahari
It's about an anti-social (not a-social) dude forced into situations and generally soving them as unempathetically and as cold as possible. At every turn is a psychological battle of logic and wits, which ultimately leaves him alone and bitter. The catch is that the normies around him slowly come to realize what a bad ass this dude is and come to see things his way, which totally conflicts with their own character and creates incredible bouts of mentally distressed characters interacting with each other.
>>
>>39461151
There needs to be a reason for me to slog through the same tropes. The jokes are exactly the same, but in a more drab setting. The first episode and first half of the second had really good elements. The hallucinations, the playing of the violin over the other music, that's all great. But eroge games and panty shots made me wonder what happened.

>>39461199
>it candidly shows the depths of depravity that ostracization and isolation brings about
for like one episode, and then it's fucking zany adventures outside and "I spent a week after discovering porn for the first time"
>>
>>39461256
You watched 3 fucking episodes, how would you know? There's a lot more to the show than that.
>>
>>39461285
I don't know. I'll ask again - does it get better?
>>
>>39461200
Did you fall asleep after the first season?
>>
>>39460881
If you don't get invested in NHK from the start of the first episode then you're not a true robot.
>>
>>39461318
If it didn't instantly click with you then don't bother. You're judging it against shit that came out much later, took the themes from NHK and repackaged them in an otaku-friendly way to sell plastic figurines to Yamazakis. Should have been around for it when it was new and fresh.
>>
>>39461318
yes, the second half of the episodes are very good
>>
>>39460881
>Can't relate to the MC
This thread should be 404d right there
>>
>>39461338
Nigga I jus told you I watched it
Like you just a pessimistic asshole who can't see any message or meaning in things besides "oh it bad"
>>
>>39461103
Oregairu was fucking fantastic for the first season and I'd recommend it to everyone here. Season 2 is garbage.
>>
>>39461381
Okay, I'll keep going.

I'm a virgin NEET that binges RPGs and moeshit.

I'm not huge fan of NHK, I thought it lost a lot of gas towards the middle but picked it up again towards the end, but there is something off about comparing these shows to eachother. It's a bit like saying "bar scene cliches have been done to death" then start comparing some james bond movie with schindlers list and jaws.

Does it get "better" after 3 episodes? The pacing is about the same, the story develops and load of other stuff happens. But it's not like he's gonna go to another world, get a zanpaktou and fight evil spirits or anything.

Going what you've written I think you should drop it and go watch Squidgirl instead, invade invade hey.

What sort of books do you start off with, the bible?
>>

>I thought it lost a lot of gas towards the middle but picked it up again towards the end

Have you read the novel? Most of the shitter parts of the anime were from the manga or anime original

>>39461684
Probably with ancient greek literature, spend any amount of time on lit and you'll see it discussed.

Never did. Thx for the tip. Got quite a lot of backlog so it's probably going to take a long time before I pick something like that up again though.

>Probably with ancient greek literature, spend any amount of time on lit and you'll see it discussed.
So something like Illiad and Odysse would apply?
