I've been trying to lucid dream for a while OP. Usually what happens to me is that I realize I'm in a dream and get so excited I wake up. I've heard of doing "reality checks" and keeping a dream journal to help with the process. What's your methods?

Literally it's as simple as this. Do your reality checks, and do them geinually. Don't just go "it's time to reality check!" *boom* done. Actually take a good minute to question your reality. Look at your hands, can you count all ten fingers? Try breathing through your nose while pinching it with your mouth closed. There's plenty of different reality checks online as well. Also make sure you're logging your dreams in a journal every night. If you dont have good dream recall you won't get anywhere. Those first two steps are key. As for the preferred method use wake back to bed. Pretty much you go to sleep for about 6 hours, wake up and log your dream (if you're getting out of one) in your journal. Stay up for about fifteen minutes and just think about lucid dreaming, what you wanna do in your dream, watch some YouTube videos on it, re read your journal, just keep your mind on lucid dreaming ok? Then go back to sleep normally and you have a good chance of LDing. There's also plenty more guides online. Good luck anons.

I used to write an A on my hand for "awake" and I'd consciously think about being awake whenever I noticed it, that helped me lucid dream pretty consistently. Stopped doing it after getting sleep paralysis a few times, it sucks.

These days I just superman'ed around and once tried to throw a chair at my classmate in my dream for shit and giggles.

I lucid dream about once a month, but I've only been able to control what's happening one or two time. Any tips?

I become aware that I'm dreaming, try to make shit happen and walk around for what seems like ~2 minutes, then I get frustrated and wake up.

One of the times I made shit happen I decided I wanted to fuck Peggy Hill for some reason, but when she appeared I freaked out and woke up cause I don't really want to fuck Peggy.

I think the main reason people can't stay lucid is because they get too excited about actually being aware you're dreaming and woke up. I've read quite a bit on this and so far, there was only one instance where spinning on the spot actually helped me stay about a few minutes longer.

Me too, that's part of why I freaked out and woke up. I was walking around a house that doesn't exist anymore so I realized I was dreaming, then I told myself Peggy Hill would be in the kitchen and she was there. This was probably my 4th or 5th lucid dream.

To respond to your post, control in lucid dream is learned. You start off obviously with body movements, controlling where you go in the environment your subsconscious creates, and slowly increase over time. It's very simply anon.
