That does describe me life. I would excel in reading and writing, but I was in remedial for math. I don't have the break down, but I remembered scoring well on some things that were supposed to be hard, while fucking stuff that was supposed to be easy. Some things just come easier to me than others, but I just thought that was normal and everyone was like that.

Genetic variation between individuals? We were raised in the same household with similar diets so environment can't have much to do with it in our case. The only notably intelligent person in our familial line is our grandfather who was a self-taught architect. Our other grandfather was also reasonably bright but not as bright. Our parents are not impressive, but mom was always a good student in math and dad was in the chess club in high school. I guess my architect grandfather's brain genes were hit or miss and they hit for her and missed me. We had similar grades in school in every subject except math where she always significantly outperformed me. I could get A's in every other subject though. We could also discuss some complex subjects but as soon as we got to something that was very abstract, I would start to get lost and she would clearly still have a foothold.
