Fantastic robot musician who unfortunately took his own life in 2003 at 34 years old after a lifetime struggle with depression, drug addiction, and childhood trauma from getting molested as a kid. Such a fucking waste. He was brilliant.

Honestly, the man never wrote a bad song IMO. I've gotten into every single one of his records at one point or another. I started with Either/Or and then went forwards to his more poppy stuff and then when I got through that, I went back to revisit his self-titled, his debut, and the 3 records he put out with his old band Heatmiser. He could have done whatever he wanted musically but I guess when you're so far gone into drug addiction and depressive alienation, music won't make you happy anymore. Nothing will.

watching his interviews now he seems so withdrawn from the artists lifestyle, he states he hates that being a singer song writer makes people think you want them to be like you and you have some message and the next interview the lady asks so what were you trying to get across with this album?
