I need some opinions. First off let me give some general info on my currently living situation.
I'm 25 and rent a 11x10 bedroom in my friend's parent's home. They only charge me $300 in rent per month.
Here is the thing, though. My commute to my job is 40 miles one way. That is about 80 miles a day 5 days a week of driving, I spend over $120 on gas a month.
Here is where I am at now. I have an autistic, gay co-worker who is moving into a nice apartment 1.1mi away from where we work. It'd take me less than 5 min to get to work!
The apartment complex is pretty nice and he said I could rent out the 11x11.6 den for only $250/mo.
The shitty part is I don't get to see my bestfriend everyday AND they are asking for a $500 pet fee for my dog to live there too. I am just weighing the pros and cons.
We'd also have to share a bathroom, but I do that now with my friend anyway.

This without a doubt. You have no idea the luxury of living close by to your workplace. And once you do it becomes almost impossible to give up. So much so I've noticed the different between a 15min commute and a 25min commute.

I think I am going to do it! I have always lived under a parents roof. it'd take like 3 minutes to get to work compared to my 38 minute commute!
The shitty part is I get to see my coworker at work and after work. We are friends but his autism sometimes gets annoying.
On weekends I plan on not being there so I can catch a break.
Fucking $500 pet fee, though.

The fee is a one-time thing, though, right? In probably only a few months, your savings will pay for that if you take into account lower gas and rent payments.

yes, that's true. It is a one time fee. I guess even if I didn't end up saving much in the long run I would be so fucking close to work I couldn't even call it a commute, lol.

It'd save me about 6 hours a week of highway driving.
About 400 miles a week saved as well.
I am just really going to miss the friend I live with now. But honestly he isn't around much since he is normie and I usually just sit at home alone...

I got her for free. She doesn't cost me much. I even paid for her heartworm treatment which was $750. I take good care of her, go for daily walks, brush her every few days, play toys with her. She is a 30 lb beagle mix and I'd be even more depressed with my smooch pooch.
