Why was this year so shit?

Plenty of other years were shit. Why single this one out?

LIterally 2014-2016 where the worse years of my life. Especially 2015.
2011-2013 were the best years of my life.

2017 has been pretty good so far. but that is only in relation to how shit 2016 was.

2015 - sucked hard
2014 - was just okay
2013 - could've gone a lot better
2012 - not great
2011 - problematic
2010 - not terrible
2009 - really poor
2008 - overall bad
2007 - pretty good but not to the pedestal some /r9k/ kids put it to be
2006 - meh
2005 - sucky but had its moments
2004 - max comfy
2003 - overall pretty average
2002 - not great
2001 - if not for 9/11 nice
2000 - good
1999 - good
1998 - not good
1997 - a weird time for everything
