Because it takes too much money and time to get licenced for a gun in Englandstan, and even then you can't get handguns, only rifles and shotguns, and you can't carry any guns in public spaces for self protection.

Learning how to use and maintain a gun and then going through the licensing and purchasing process requires far too much social interaction for me to do on my own and I don't know anyone who would be willing to do it with me.

I don't own a car but for self defense I'd prefer to have just one pocket size revolver on me. They're small enough to fit in a jacket pocket, and won't be obvious if you have some loose cloth on the outside.
