Gothic games have amazing faction system and quest progression in general but they are in most ways worse and less polished than the Elder Scrolls games. The combat especially. I think they are both worth playing if you are into RPG's.

Have you played Gothic? Or baldurs gate/icewind dale/neverwinter nights/dragon age? Or Ultima/wizardry/might and magic?

Without Kirkbride the series turned to boring cliched garbage and there is no denying of that.
