How do I make sure I don't injure myself? That's my biggest worry. I have some back and upper butt pain and I think it might be from muscle imbalance. Maybe ainterior pelvic tilt. I was wondering if there was a set of tests I could do to avoid these issues.
>>
I wanted to go for a morning run, but now I am really tired and laying in bed is much cosier.
>>
>>39313845
>How do I make sure I don't injure myself?

1. Light aerobic exercises, static stretching is to be avoided as it has been linked to decreased muscle gain (via IGF-1) and higher rates of injury. https://breakingmuscle.com/fitness/static-stretching-before-during-and-after-lifting

Ideally you would stretch after the workout, if at all. Me personally I don't stretch, but if I'm doing arms that day I shake my arms a bit, and do light and quick stretches without holding.

2. To prepare your lift you can do a warmup set by either lifting the bar or going around 25-50% of your working weight. I swear on this because it encourages you to remain in good form with higher weight, and since I started I've had no injuries.

3. ALWAYS use good form, and make sure before you even attempt the lift that you know the proper form. I cannot stress this enough, as improper form with squats or deadlifts can lead to what we call snap city, you don't want to do to snap city. If you have trouble finding the form relax and do what feels natural, in most cases this will work better than attempting to use the form of some guy on youtube, as long as you get the essentials down it doesn't have to be 100% the same, as bone differences in size are taken into account.

Good luck anon.
>>
>>39313881

I would go out for a run anyways, and when you hate it, you'll remember not to be a lazy fuck next time.

I did this when I waited until nearly fucking midnight to hit the gym, and boy did I suffer, but I got it done and felt better for it, I also made a note not to repeat it again.

Build your discipline anon, good luck.

With my "fitness" "friend" I managed to tear a Trapezius and fuck my shoulder capsule which now has really bad anterior shift, all in one moment. I guess also if you start to strain during a lift, just stop.

Useless tbqh. Start with 2 miles and then add a mile every week. You should eventually be at around 35 minutes for 5 miles. Run trails, roads, and hills equally. Don't stop on your runs. Do a hard workout with intervals and a run 1.5x as long as your regular run every week.

He's right, though. If robots are serious about wanting to get /fit/ then it's literally just a click away, so this thread serves little purpose except to remind other non-athletic robots about how inadequate they may feel.
>>
>>39314151
>How the hell did that happen?
I was doing pull-ups with said friend. The routine he gave me pretty much tripled the amount of reps I was doing from the week before, so midway through the 7th or so pull-up I strained hard and then he assisted me the rest of way. The tearing sensation down my back was fucking unreal and I couldn't turn my head at all.

fast forward two years to today, I can't safely do pushups, pullups, anything involving hanging from a bar. I'm currently working on my traps and it's going well so far, most days I can feel an ache from one that tore but my shoulder is still fucked, I can feel it everyday. I am aiming to get around to slooowly build up shoulder strength to help stabilize it, but it's hard when it freaks out so easily.

it's a huge setback to being -aesthetic- and well living pain-free, but I'll be keeping my chin up

>>39314354
Tennis elbow shouldn't be an issue at all with pushups as tennis elbow is mainlu tears where the forearm muscles meet the elbow. Forearms aren't activated that much by pushups so again, not a huge issue but it's good you're aware.

As painful as it sounds, cold baths are really good for your joints after working out. Also, for forearms what you can do is find any where where you can do a pullup and just hang from it, grab a barbell and just spin it with your wrists, abd mix in Hammer curls which are a variation of regular bicep curls. Also, if you want larger arms, don't forget to do tricep exercises.

Take collagen supplements to support cartilage tissue in your knee and get plenty of calcium, zinc, and vitamin d3, you can get these in multivitamins but don't go cheap, the cheap ones are synthesized and have a much lower absorption rate

Otherwise get it from whole foods and track it with one of the calorie counting apps.

Pull up, as this >>39315105 genius anon said you can use monkey bars. Curl heavy rocks or appliances and do forearm curls as well.

Although I would suggest getting equipment if you can't afford it, or going to the gym, it makes life a hell of a lot easier.

Good luck anon.

all of these 'beginner lifting' programs assume you can at least lift some weights

there are people here that have atrophies so far they can't do more than 2 push-ups and they can't walk more than 5 minutes without their feet hurting and getting shin splints

these beginner programs do not help because they can't start them to begin with
>>
>>39315277
So start out with 2 pushups and work your way up. Do two a day for a week and then try moving up. If you can't, keep going two until you can move up. Same with walking. Start out with 5 minutes a day and try moving up after a while.
>>
>>39315277
Well push-ups is very relative strength
An experienced bench pusher,
doesn't mean he can do high volume push-ups
(High volume: Many repetitions)
Then just do 1 rep cluster set
It's called cluster sets,
because usually one can do more than one.
Do one push-up, take a break, do one more
Repeat through out the day,
take as much time as you need, and no more.
Then the next day, or the day before.
Make those one push-ups as slow as possible,
you're going to have to rest longer between each push up.
Do these once a week, improvise,
there is always work for those who seek it.
Do plank exercises the third day, various types.
>>
>>39315526
>take as much time as you need, and no more.

What makes OP qualified to give fitness advice?
>>
>>39315875
Improvement is for the weak.
>>
>>39315842
No, you need protein (amino acids) for your muscles to maintain and develop.

You would have to adopt a regiment that allows both your alcohol (empty calories) as well as protein rich foods, which would be hard to maintain and likely end up in an unsightly beer gut.

I would never discourage fitness but dealing with your other demons first would be a better solution.

Now if you could moderate the alcohol to only weekends or fridays you could allow room during the week to focus on fitness (Dom Mazzeti style), although I say maintaining two masters at the same time would be difficult.

Whatever you take of this advice, good luck anon.

OP has to go to bed now, enjoy the shill posts.

>>39315842
Depends on what you mean by results, you'd absoloutely lose weight (I'd recommend heavily against calorie restriction when you binge drink, that can end in disaster) but in order to gain muscle you need to cut back on the drinking and start eating healthy, and ensure you get sufficient protein. Alcohol is terrible for protein synthesis (aka bulding muscle) which is one of the reason bodybuilders advice against drinking to much.
