How is this still considered legal in 2017? The evidence is unequivocal. Circumcision massively distorts how the penis works in proportion to how severe the cut is. A natural penis works best--one that has perfectly healthy parts removed works worse. One that is cut tight like pic related is so fucked up that some guys have their dicks rip apart and bleed in their sleep to the extent that they can't enjoy sex and some even attempt/commit suicide because of it.

If there is a medical issue with the foreskin, it is often caused by mishandling on the part of caregivers (such as forced retraction) and resolves when the abusive handling ceases. In cases when it doesn't, or there is some other cause, it can be treated conservatively. Amputation is a treatment of last resort--not something that should be done prophylactically.
The "health benefits" are an intellectually dishonest post hoc rationalization. Even one of the doctors on the AAP task force on circumcision later admitted that the benefits DON'T outweigh the risks if "religious benefits" and "cultural benefits" aren't factored in. They also admitted that they don't even know what the risks are and yet still claimed "the benefits outweigh the risks"--so their position statement is not just wrong, it's literally self-contradictory.

The AAP position is also far out of line with that of medical organizations like the Royal Dutch Medical Association and many others.
This shit needs to stop.
Luckily it's slowly declining in the US and Canada.

Unfortunately a number of Chinese are starting to circumcise now, because they swallowed the "health benefits" thing or they're looking for an excuse to maximize their profits.
Some Chinese hospitals are even taking it a step further and damaging/destroying the penile dorsal nerve on purpose, leaving their patients not only without the ridged band and frenulum (two of the most sensual and erogenous parts of the penis) but with either no sensation whatsoever, or no pleasurable sensation and constant pain due to the nerve damage.
