Virtue of selfishness is actually a better "spiritual awakening" because it doesn't have metaphors that idiots can take too literal. It has enough common tongue and straight forward essays to it that even a highschool can understand it. But yes,shrugged is still a pretty good book.

When it comes to analysis of society and economy, at least for your personal education, one needs to understand the difference between the whole and mere sum of its parts.

Grab a real book, Alexander Spirkin Fundamentals of Philosophy. It kind of complements Max Stirner too. Basically a Philosophy 101 that no one bothered to give you.
