try to make an 'us' out of something that could never work, forcing us both to slowly yet irrecoverably accept that i am a faulty husk of a man, incapable of true emotion or mutual happiness, gradually distancing the only person who could love me for who i am out of stubborn, unflinching pride, with nothing to be actually proud of, watching helplessly as my failures tear the happiness out of the lives of not only one, but two people, all the while fully aware that it is all me, that it's always been me and always will be.
