I had some of this for the first time recently. It doesn't taste bad for an 8.1% abv. Just a little bit off... it was almost like a soapy aftertaste. Maybe that's just because I only drink 1 brand all the time though and anything else would taste weird to me.

Still prefer my Milwaukee's Best Ice 6.9% desu.

I wish there were better beers in the 8% range. Steel Reserve is very high in calories for some reason.

24 oz of 8.1% Steel clocks in at 444 Calories while 24 oz of of 8% Natty Daddy comes in at only 360 calories.

Alcohol in general is very calorie dense. Anything low-cal you can bet it's weak, like 2.4%.

There's some stuff that tastes really good at 8%+ but it's all super expensive craft beer.
