I don't buy it. A lot of the people who reject having children because of sub-optimal conditions in the environment are the same people that will reject adopting a child as well. They don't want kids mostly because they don't want to invest the resources into raising them. Foster children, after all, are already born, so the excuse doesn't apply.

Overpopulation is a legitimate concern. I'll at least have one though, when I'm not a college student who can't afford to stay in school with that kind of financial obligation, as well as when I'm a man who is actually ready to settle into 25 years of responsibility.
