It didn't seem obvious at the time and for years afterwards (maybe as late as 2013-2015), but yes does seem like 2007 was a big shift. Everyone knows about the iPhone, but it doesn't seem like all the other shit added up, now it does. I personally preferred the 2003-2007 era, tons of cool sites and forums to explore, cell phones exist, but your whole life is not online. Plus WoW and 4chan were new, anime and video games were going mainstream but not corrupted yet.

2007/8 financial collapse p much ruined everything. Regular joes who weren't retarded could pick up any IT gig at 60k/yr and just...live. Same job is now $10/hr with no benes. It's crazy how shit everything's gotten so fast.
