I have one online friend, but I think that's good enough for me.

The guy friends don't even chat me up and when I do it's very brief and a "oh, hey. blahblah, bye. talk to you in a month." I've made friends with females online but they're online and I stop talking to them eventually because they know everything about me and my secrets so that just freaks me out.

Right here. Last time I had friends was in my teens to low 20s and they were online friends. We started mutually avoiding eachother after awhile. They wanted to talk more than I did and they probably got better irl friends by now anyway. Every time I've tried to make irl friends people just think I'm weird or creepy or something and end up ghosting me. I just stopped trying after awhile. I know I have diagnosed aspergers this is probably why :(

in all sincerity, i recognise that pattern bro - a lot of us have fallen into it over the years, and it can be really tough to climb back out of it

... especially when we get comfortable in our isolation and don't actually 'want' to make the emotional effort of opening up

if i were you, i'd probably look around for discord servers which are /r9k/-lurker friendly and kinda start resocialising yourself a bit

not saying the people on here are pleasant or particularly supportive, since most of us are kinda beaten down little fraggles who want to lash out at the world; but it might give you some small connection to human beings

if that's beyond you, you could listen to podcasts of broheims smack talking each other and being big old nerds link on redlettermedia or soemthing - which would kinda get you back in the rhythm of how people interact when they're openly talking about things they're passionate about

I have 1 friend (who happens to be a chad-lite) from school but since I moved 2 years ago to a different city for collage I have had no friends, acquaintance or anyone. I also beginning to drift apart from that one friend used to be we talked ever week or so and play vidya ever weekend now we rarely talk once a month and he doesn't care much vidya anymore.

Well I've checked out a bunch of these discord chats and it always seems like some small in-group of friends talking about I don't even know. And I'm not sure when is considered ok to just start talking if it is. Or what they would want me to say. So I end up just reading it for awhile and leave. Am I just too socially retarded or

most of the /r9k/ discords are full of socially inept folks who don't quite know how to be welcoming to others - since they've never been welcomed - so they kinda try and 'act' like they think people should behave in social situations

course this often doesn't turn out well, with people shouting obscenities at each other and being rambunctious - especially if there's a gril in chat - so the newer folk won't necessarily grasp that this group might be completely new to each other as well, and they're still sorting themselves out

and if you also bear in mind that folks coming from the *chans are used to being absolute poopheads to each other, and don't recognise the slightly different dynamic when people are talking on voice making it all a bit more 'real'

but it wouldn't hurt to lurk moar, maybe just finding out what other people's interests are and whether you want to hang out and talk with them about things - sometimes it might be them who are the problem, not you

Never had one at any point in my life. APD and severe anxiety since childhood, depression. Never learned to make friends, can't be around people without feeling like a pathetic sack of shit, can't be alone without feeling like a pathetic sack of shit, only drinking, coke and sport makes me feel alive and truly happy. As soon as my mom and grandma die I'll be hanging in the noose.

Having 0 friends makes life feel meaningless. It doesn't help that after having 0 friends for a couple years makes it harder to make friends since you are far behind in life experiences.
