This is behavior is completely normal and has occurred continuously since time immemorial.

As people constantly have to be reminded - political violence and criminal violence are at the lowest they have ever been in the nation's history. What's interesting is that the populace ARE not ignorant or, as they later claim, "duped". The Nazis and Hitler in particular perpetuated false narratives and a constantly morphing ideology to justify wars of aggreasion politically.
