Can you guys close your eyes right now and visualize a 3D shape and rotate it? I can't, except when I wake up/am falling asleep

Like as an example. I can imagine a table with one leg, but I can't "see" it. I could tell you how it would look like if you messed with pitch and yaw, but it's not seeing it and then seeing it move but rather a series of snapshots
>>
>>39101413
I can think of a memory where I've done this.
>>
>>39101413
I can even create two 3D shapes, and can crash them another.

Then it comes, more 3D shaped. But when I'm "rendering" it, an weird shade appears in my vision. I think it like lowering the resolution for better performance. Anyways, your brain is not normal.
>>
>>39101581
Forgot to add, it's harder when I close my eyes, can fuck an chair in my mind while typing this, but closing my eyes and doing it is really an challange.

Can you have them be colored objects? Like I said I can't really see them and it's all black with my eyes closed. So it's more me guessing the shape
>>
my imagination is extremely vague

I only realized this when I played DnD with some people once

I couldn't wrap my head around how they could imagine this elaborate storyline and characters
>>
>>39101607
I think it's easier with my eyes open? I can't really tell.
>>
>>39101635
>Can you have them be colored objects?
Just imagined an anodized blue triangle. Even the fucking textures, an brain can do that.

>guessing the shape
Seek help, can be a problem with your brain. Or you're just not an imagination person. Find it out asap.
>>
>>39101413
i can . but i draw all the time to so its an acquired skill.
>>
>>39101675
Do you draw? That could be it.
>>
>>39101413
>object goes for a spin cycle
>suddenly on an acid trip
>>
Yeah, but I draw so much and go off and imagine things all the time so I think thats why I can do it easily.
>>
>>39101413

I can. Very easily. Fairly complex ones too. I have trouble holding my view steady (not drifitng up and down - it's hard to keep the rotation perfect on one axis)

I've thought about this quite a bit - My visual imagination and memory are extremely high, from anecdotal evidence.

I always assumed that was normal. But when I lived with a muisician years ago, he told me he can "hear" in his imagination, and hears tunes/melodies, but doesn't really visualize stuff. Like I remember conversations the way you remember books, and he remembers the way they sound.

It was really interesting - I've had visual images come to me that you could easily translate into art - But I've never had a musical melody or anything like that every come to me. I can't even "make one up" in my head.

Yet I know plenty of muisicians simply have snatches pop into their minds from time to time and write songs like that.
>>
wow this thread my me feel really smart
>>
>>39101717
I draw, I make 3D stuff, I shitpost on /egg/.

So yes, I'm doing stuff that related to 3D world. But I was rendering things while solid snake was an 8 bit guy. Books helps, especially teachers that says "image the things you read".
>>
>>39101760

Also, I've done acid a few times, and on one occasoin the visual accuracy and detail of my imagination freaked me out. I could close my eyes and it was literally like being in a room with the object I was obsessing over. The colours, textures, light refraction - everything was pixel perfect. I think my dreams are probably like that too, but you don't remember them so well, whereas on acid you're awake/conscious.

It also got me to thinking about how these drugs work/how the imagination works. In dreams 5 minutes can feel like five hours, because your brain cheats your imagination/memory into filling the gaps. In dream time it took 2 minutes to drive across the city, but it's because your brain cheated your memory to filling in the middle 58 minutes with false memories.

Sorry.

musician/ producer here. I hear random music in my head all day. all the music I've ever made has just flowed out this well. The music always feels like it writes itself.

Whether this is some gift I don't know but it's happened ever since I was a kid
>>
>>39101801

>Books helps, especially teachers that says "image the things you read"

I'm >>39101760

As a kid I would read fiction slowly prior to bed because I would film it in my head. As an adult I do it quite quickly, but it's kind of strange how I will pause after a line or a paragraph temporarily, while my brain tries different edits/shots.
>>
>>39101413
I can do with body movements (with tools even)and fast fluid motions of 3d objects.

I have trouble letting 3d objects spin slowly and letting some processes go on slowly.

Is this brainlet?
>>
>>39101808

It's really weird. I mentioned it above, but for me, reading a book is basically l like watching a movie. Extremely detailed, consistent - everything except SOMETIMES consistent faces (it just varies from book to book).

But when it comes to auditory imagination - I can 'imagine-hum" a tune, but I literlly cannot create an original imagination tune in my head. Just can't get anything, at all. If I try physically humming an original creation it's incrtedibly simple, reptitive and not even really melodic, probably closer to a beat than a tune.
>>
>>39101808
i can do this and hear counterpoint and harmonies. i just dont know how to write it down (i know how the theory behind all of it works but i dont know how to name tones that i "hear" in my mind) i can also do the the shape/form mental rotation . i knew how to write that down , thats why i draw instead of music but if i could figure out how to know tones i could easily do music as well.

I can help you with not making objects steady.

You see this; / you know what it looks like when you spin it, a little faster? Yes, looks like an weird X.

Then the; <, same x, still weird. Now slot it down. Think as the start point of < as an joint. Hold the start point (or the tip of <) and spin it slowly. Not sure if can work on you.

>But I've never had a musical melody or anything like that every come to me
Wow this (or just me) gettin creepy. I can make people talk. Any word but need to be in his/her language because I can only "remix" things like an regular conversation if I know how he/she talks like.

Also can visualize an piano or accordion sound with visuals, because I know how these two things react when you use them.

So use your brain more.

Did it for ~15 secs, the thing is I got really tired after it. I dropped out of college because of my concentration problems (needing to sleep after focusing for about 15 minutes on a difficult class). Same after driving for more than an hour.
I am under modafinil right now. I saw nearly all the specialists in my country who could help me but no one knows what to say after many exams. Anybody here has this feel?
>>
>>39101413
Do you have total aphantasia, or is it just visual?

Could you imagine a sound, like a song you've heard or somebody's voice? What about a scent or a taste? What about a feeling or a sense of place?
>>
Always thought I had shitty imagination until I read this thread. Turns out I'm just normal since I can imagine anything inside my head fairly easily, and control it however I want. Sounds, shapes, movement, everything goes.
>>
I have very strong mental visualization and audio. The audio is stronger. I can see, rotate, mutate objects in my mind easily, as well as hear voices and music almost as clearly as if they were real. If I'm very concentrated I can have up to 5 individual instruments playing concurrently. If I'm remembering a real song it's more of the combined sound I remember, not individual instrument lines. I can remember and recognize the exact pitch a song note is (though I don't know the names, I have to compare it to a real sound). It's pretty nice to have a superior brain.
>>
>>39104073
Also forgot to mention, I have a hard time synthesizing smells, and tastes are weak. I can recognize people I know by smell but I can't really smell them in my mind or create new imaginary smells. I can imagine common tastes like salt, but it's weak. Touch is probably average, I can kind of remember touches but nothing crazy.

Total opposite. My brain's noisy as fuck and borderline hallucinatory.

>can imagine a 3D shape, rotate it, cut it, go inside it, zoom out, crush it, stretch it, warp it, twist it, turn it inside-out, flip it over, bang it against a surface, pin it on an axis, bounce it, change its color, change its physical properties, make it cold to the touch, make it white-hot, make it electrically-charged against my fingertips, make it heavy or light, etc.
>can imagine the taste of a food, both in terms of favor and color palette, if I imagine eating it
>can imagine the taste of some colors and images for some reason, which just seems backwards
>used to be fixated on this one page in a Mickey Mouse book because I liked the way I imagined this pink starfish in one of the illustrations to taste
>can imagine the shape of abstract concepts like math, logic, and argument; have difficulty expressing it but can literally feel these and see them in my head
>can imagine the shape and color of weeks, months, days, years, etc., except it's like I'm standing in the middle of time and moving along it like on a ribbon
>brain has color-coded everything, down to phonemes, words, letters, numbers, concepts, and sensations
>brain plays music automatically, and it's real and vivid as hell; sometimes music I've heard and sometimes something new and spontaneous
>have music dreams; sometimes songs I've heard, sometimes new music
>can play entire albums in my head if I want to; do this to space out and pass time in class sometimes
>can do this with episodes of cartoons that I like or vidya sequences as well
>can sometimes ASMR myself by playing snippets of ASMR videos I like in my head
>see words when people talk, like a dialogue box, and the words are color-coded and highlighted with meaning only I understand
>can literally see an image on a blank piece of paper and trace it
>brain plays a trippy music video for songs I like, and the imagery is consistent
>etc.

I unironically think I have autism.
>>
>>39104252
That's called Synesthesia I think, combination of senses of different senses. You have it and it comes in many forms, but very rare. You're not crazy, just gifted
>>
>>39101413
Yes I just visualized a brain and spun it. But thats nothing really for me. I have an amazing sense of direction. If I have been somewhere once I can perfectly visualize it. I can remember the layout of every building I've ever lived in and "spin" it in my mind to look at it in different angles. The same is true for common paths I take.
>>
>>39101413
I once visualized a tesseract. It was a weird day.
