Fall quarter starts late September but I'm in Summer school taking a class for the third time. I need to do really well this coming quarter because I'm applying to grad school this Fall and while I have some achievements I don't have any authorships or awards and my GPA will be around 2.9 (but I can explain it somewhat in the personal statement. I also need to take the GRE some time in September so I need to study for that.

I'm pretty nervous about applying because I don't want to need to take a gap year.

Other than that I feel good. I didn't join clubs when I transferred a few years ago and I regret it so I'm looking at a couple right now.

Also, I fell in love with a girl this Summer who has a boyfriend and lives six hours away so that sucks.

get a Dell XPS.
Better battery life, nicer-looking screen, better connectivity (has both USB-C, and things like SD card slots, classic USB, HDMI on some models, etc), more durable materials, and better performance (The onboard graphics chip reks the kekbook).

source: worked at a PC store's warehouse and throughout 2016 we shipped tons of Macbooks and Dell XPS 13s to people, and macbooks are starting to come back in with faulty materials that require us to send them back to apple, and then back again to the angry normies. Dell users all seem fine for now.

I graduated high school last April and I'm 18.
My GPA was 1.667 and I barely passed. I took the ACT and got a 26 somehow. Basically, I just fucked around through school. This thread is already talking about college, so I guess I'll post it here.

Now that literally everyone in my family has bombarded me with college questions, I usually say "i don't know" and they just look down upon me the look of utter disgust, as if I've broken the code of honor that's been passed down for generations, and more to come. I already do woodworking with my dad in his shop and I already make decent cash, so why the hell should I go to college? There will always be someone that wants 20 cabinets and counters in their kitchen. I've seen people with bachelor's degrees at Goodwill and McDonald's. I don't want to be like that. I don't want to go to some Marxist university that will brainwash me with bullshit in orientation. I don't want a degree that's worth nothing and debt that will destroy my life and essentially sign my life away to the debt collectors.

Question is: Should I even go to college?
>>
who /general engineering/ here? just cuck my shit up senpai
>>
>>39070620
Just go to community college and decide after doing that for at least a year. Usually costs pennies and they accept almost everyone.

But a tip: All the meming about student debt is that, just a meme. If you can study something and do it well, the debt won't be more than an annoyance. If you go to med school and fail out with 100k of debt or get a degree in something that you can't get a job in, that's a different story.

Sounds like an all around terrible idea. Don't stick your dick in crazy, especially if you live with them.

>finishing up second year in community college
>still haven't made a single friend
>had plenty of chances but was too autistic to ever exchange any kind of contact info
>turned down a slutty girl who aggressively hit on me an entire semester even though I've barely had female contact my whole life

I'm probably going to finish alone because I deserve it.

>Go to uni right out of high school
>Pretty smart, but had no friends
>Enroll in uni far away from old Town because I fell for the "reinvent yourself" meme
>Apply for dorm late, so temporarily move to expanded housing, which is basically a bigger room than the regular dorms
>Supposed to have 2 extra roommates, but one doesn't show
>The other one is a manlet Chad, but actually pretty cool to hang around
>We go everywhere together for the first couple of weeks
>All of a sudden he gets transferred out to a new dorm because one finally opened up
>I'm alone
>Semester passes, I'm still alone in the expanded housing
>Don't even keep in contact with my old roommate anymore
>Don't go to classes because no motivation
>Basically eat and sleep
>Fail almost all the classes even though they were easymodo
>Never go back for the next 4 years
I'm thinking about re-enrolling, but how do I not make the same mistakes?

that's how, anon
if you want to make friends, approach people and keep in contact with the ones who you get along with, whether they approached you or not

I did the whole fail everything and don't go to class thing my second semester. My first semester I got a 3 GPA. I'm going into my 3rd semester in a few weeks inshallah and a month ago got out of a hard summer class that I passed.

I'm putting he second semester down to temporary brain death or something and praying that it doesn't happen again. Things are on the up and up so hopefully semester 3 will go well. Also I didn't fail EVERYthing then but my gpa was like a 0.8 or something. Luckily in my depression I prioritised important classes and just gave up on other ones. So I won't have to retake anything except for some gen ed crap.
>>
>>39078154
just dont' fucking repeat the same mistakes.

god, I hate people who waste their privileged lives.

my dad grew up during the soviet union and was barely fed at all, grew up doing crime and eventually got himself into uni and distanced himself from all that.

now he's some rich as fuck property manager in Australia .

if a criminal slav can become a multi millionaire legitimately through sheer hard work and determination, than i'm pretty sure little babby can go to class.

also, p.s, kill yourself faggot.
>>

I want you to bash yourself over the head with a lead pipe

Wealth and privilege is a burden specifically because you never learn how to do things for yourself. I got into the literal same situation as that guy and I guarantee of my tuition wasn't fucking paid for already by a rich family member I wouldn't have. If you are poor you are naturally more mature with more legitimate life experience. Whenever I bring this up with people they get mad as fuck but there's no way it isn't true.

I'm legitimately considering telling that family member that I'd rather have the student loans myself than squander his money. Purposely put myself in a precarious position with little padding; a cornered animal has nothing to lose.

It might have just been my professor, but I took a intermediate level Macroeconomics where literally no one in the class knew what to do, but because of the structure of the test being identical to the quizzes we all still managed to get fine grades.

>...the most acute forms of the modern existential crisis are appearing today at the margin of a civilization of prosperity, as witness the currents in the new generation that have been described. One sees there rebellion, disgust, and anger manifesting not in a wretched and oppressed subproletariat but often in young people who lack nothing, even in millionaire's children. And among other things it is a significant fact, statistically
proven, that suicide is much rarer in poor countries than in rich ones, showing that the problematic life is felt more in the latter than in the former. Blank despair can occur right up to the finishing-post of socio-economic messianism, asin the musical comedy about a utopian island
where they have everything, "fun, women, and whiskey," but also the ever-recurrent sense of the emptiness of existence, the sense that some-thing is still missing.
>There exists, therefore, no correlation, except possibly a negative one, between the meaning of life and conditions of economic well-being

I don't even know anymore and I don't really deserve to have any of the opinions I hold. A lot of the times I think there's just this really really stubborn social masochism in me that forces me to always believe what everyone else hates. I can't even talk about politics irl because none of my views are finalized or very well thought about
>>
>>39079942
So you're not a neoliberal anymore then eh?
