extremely empathetic to a fault. I know not many probably exist on /r9k/ because of the autism but there are pros and cons to being overly empathetic (not the same thing as nice-guyism)

PRO:
>feel other people's emotions very intensely
>grasp situations and drama very easily
>understand people's personalities very quickly
>able to usually predict people's behaviors based on easily getting an overall understanding of them
>understand body language extremely well

CON:
>Your emotions exist almost solely outside yourself in others making you feel paradoxically dead inside
>you care about what other people think even if you don't care about what other people think
>at some point people will take advantage of you and you won't notice it until later
>its almost impossible to not read into things further than you should

i mean its happened to me many times too its just that you don't really focus on what your feeling as much as what they are feeling at that moment. Thats why if they do something to fuck you over quick it usually works but if there playing a long game then you will have figured it out by then. Also when I explain how I feel people usually look at me like I am an alien. Is there any definition for this because I seriously feel crazy as fuck sometimes with how much this affects my life.

Yeah that happens to me too, I think the term you would use is just alienation. I have only once told my true feelings to two of my closest friends while we were getting baked. They just stared at me with this "dude wtf is wrong with you" face until I gave up. Haven't tried it since, I really want to try getting a gf or a really close female friend and see how they would react to it.

I think I'm overly empathetic but I'm not entirely sure. I often have a hard time processing conflict and stuff because I often find that everyone seems justified in their own reasoning. It's honestly kind of scary because I'll find myself empathizing with objectively horrible people but I just can't help to try to see things from their perspective. I also cry from every fucking movie, even ones that I don't particularly enjoy. Certain emotional beats will just get to me regardless of how well they're executed. I honestly worry that if I ever get close to a girl she'll think I'm a pussy or something for how frequently I do that. And somewhat related I also fear its possible that I'll start to tear up the first time I have sex or cuddle just due to the influx of that deprived emotion, which is like the biggest bitch move ever but hopefully I'll avoid it.

On the other hand I think I can occasionally come off as kind of cold or aloof to certain people, but I think that's more due to me not being able to process or express my own emotions rather than not understanding that of others. I also might be a bit too self concerned or lazy to be high empathy but idk.

Maybe this is just how I rationalise it, but I'm often times sceptical whether everyone is taking advantage of me or not. 9/10 times they aren't so I tend give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately I still get burned those 1/10 times, doesn't mean I wasn't aware of the possibility.

I'm the exact opposite, I have strong moral beliefs but otherwise I'm almost entirely unsympathetic to people. I don't really care or relate when I see people upset, sometimes it's actually comforting in a way.
