I'm 26 and haven't held a job longer than 6 months. My last job was in an Amazon warehouse for a month back in December 2015.

I got my first job when I was 28.

When I finished high school, I basically did nothing useful for literally an entire decade. Age 18-28. Just sat around being NEET, playing vidya, sleeping 12+ hours per day, taking nightwalks, chilling at friends' or gf's house, drug & drink, dungeons & dragons, shitposting on 4chan, the usual. Lived in my dad's basement. It was a nice and big basement with separate entrance, kitchen, shower, washing machines and good soundproofing, though.. My dad finished the basement wanting to rent it out for extra income but let me live there instead because he felt bad about my life situation.

I had 0 work experience, 0 volunteering experience, no skills or useful hobbies/interests (not even good with computers or cars or anything), no education, training, or certifications beyond high school diploma. I literally could not even create a resume.

It turns out I didn't need a resume, my dad's best friend hired me into his company as junior tech support making minimum wage. No resume, no interview, just got told to take the bus to his office one morning and bam, working 9-5 Monday-Friday ever since.

It took me 6 months before I could even be of MINOR use in the company. Everyone at work hated me for knowing nothing. Most of the problems went beyond "turn it off and turn it on again" or "is everything plugged in," you actually had to know technical things, Linux commands and Perl scripts, networking hardware (Cisco hardware and how it hooks up), be good at Excel, know obscure things about Windows XP, PowerShell, etc.

Anyways, it kicked my ass into gear and got my LinkedIn profile started with ~50 connections. I still have a huge and suspicious hole, but I hope I can keep working here for a few more years and hopefully find opportunities. And now I'm actually "good with computers"
