>no freedom, guards and other inmates degrade you every day
>criminal record haunts you after release
>no choice of anything, have to eat the horrible slop and sleep on the paper sheets
>choice between rotten leftover scraps from food banks and overpriced commissary goods ($2 for a packet of ramen when you're making .25 cents an hour)

I concur. you must be crazy and have stock holmes, or are retarded, to stay locked up and be happier than homeless. You can go to the library, run off to get away from people you don't like, eat what you want, so many things when homeless.

The people that want to stay in jail instead are truly broken and incapable of making decisions and so they need to have someone tell them what to do, and haven't even the will to go play a video game. Completely broken. Not even the courage to go get drunk as a hobo, because the system doesn't allow that.

All jailbirds should be killed. Instead they turn them into slaves, so inhumane.

My guess is if you didn't punished at all while serving your sentence, then you are expected to take some job in the prison. But if you get punished at all, then you lose the "privilege" to work.

Homelessness isnt a decision as much as a consequence, but some people I knew had no choice they were thrown out at 13-14 just only knew crime/drugs in and out of jail that kind of stuff.

When I was in, it was a requirement to work. Trust me, I had money on my books and would have much rather gotten some yard time vs. working in the kitchen at 4am.

Prison sucks ass guys, I'd much rather be homeless. With the exception of having a literal roof over your head I see no other advantages. The only people who thrive in prison are so institutionalized that they have no capacity to survive in the outside world, including being a drug addled hobo.

Being homeless, you have more options to get away from a bad situation.
I've been both places back to back (arrested for burglary and destruction of property while living on the streets.)
Being in prison is alot worse that being homeless.
