hardly. I think what makes it even worse is the modest successes I've had. I tasted the satisfaction of a few stage performances, a solo art show, etc. The high is so immense that all other times feel even bleaker in comparison. Most of the time I am horribly restless. Sometimes I go outside and just walk for hours, I take some comfort in the pain and exhaustion that ensues. Other times I just get depressed or angry. I think being dysfunctional help me feel special as fucked up as it may sound.

I wouldn't call it narcissism. I'd call it a severe lack of close human contact

In what way do you quantify being a narcissist?

I don't see myself as particularly intelligent, if I was I wouldn't have fucked up my life to the degree I have.

I'm definitely not attractive.

I don't feel as if anyone owes me anything, or expect anyone to go out of their way to help me.

The only way I could see anyone here considering themselves narcissist is the refusal to work and "contribute to society". But even then the whole thing's so fucked it doesn't really matter.

What is your perspective OP? Do you think that you're a narcissist?

I don't know whether I think too highly of myself, or not high enough.
I feel pretty stupid most days, but that's because I don't try hard enough. I'm afraid of failure and humiliation and don't tend to stick with things that I don't have a natural aptitude for. Does that mean I'm overestimating my ability and want everything to go well on my first try? I feel like it is withing my reach to turn my life around, but at the same time I feel like I've fallen so far behind most people my age that I'll never catch up. Also I use "I" excessively when writing forum posts.

Tbh there are simply that many narcs. Also in politics. Everybody is narcissistic to a degree, that's why you can't slap an NPD on any celeb/politician/athlete, most of them are simply more narcissistic than most.
