I was walking out of a hiking trail onto a dirt road and the butterflies were all around.
I'd walk near and they'd flutter ahead several paces of me and then drop back to the ground.
Eventually they'd veer off to the embankments and the scraggly flora there. But there were always more waiting ahead of them.
Some were orange, some were white. Some were neon yellow.
