Yeah, a lot of bands after the initial wave of prog seem to do those nods to the earlier works.

Eurobeats is nice workout music.
>>38881156
by the way the track space transmission scared me when it came on
>>38881195
I had the exact same reaction. I can only imagine what it would feel like to be tripping and listening to it.
Honestly you're the first person I've seen other than me to listen to PT, so I gotta ask, what's your favorite song/album?
https://youtu.be/VdWmaSTqmCA Is mine

I actually hated on them for the longest time because I thought they cribbed from the old prog rockers too hard but I've warmed up to them in the last year or so. Probably because I'm more open to music made past the 70s these days which influenced their sound as well. I honestly prefer the band No-Man to PT. My favorite track is Anesthetize, I have a hard on for those long songs.
>>38880391
I'll listen to anything as long as it doesn't sound like shit.
>Technical death metal
>ambient
>Nujabes type of hip hop stuff
>Prog metal
>Classical music
>Tool
>Primus
>Buckethead
Am I cool?
This is one of those threads people post their "patrician" music taste in to look cool and then nobody listens to the music they posted or replies.

I didn't think their was any other prog bands these days other than PT and Wilson's independent career, although it seems like he's had some influence in No-man as well. I've listened to one of their songs, and it seems a bit too soft for me. For me, long songs are a mixed bunch. Anything long by 1970s prog artists was good, but afterwards I've only really liked Voyage 34, Moonloop, and The Sky Moves Sideways.

I'll listen to your music, anon.

That is exactly how they all go, but I at least have a reason for not at least clicking the links.
My headset is broken and I'm a poorfag so I can't listen to shit. Not that I would, some people listen to feces in the form of sound vibrations.

Well like I said I changed a lot since when I was in high school. I was like you back then and eschewed more mainstream forms of music but I've opened up a lot more. Even started listening to Radiohead who I thought were too "soft" back then.
I only listen to hardcore, sad stuff. I like music that matches my blackest, most sorrowful despair. Unless my ears are bleeding to keep up with the tears rolling down my cheeks, sob by sob, it's not enough.

I don't mean soft in that way, the music actually sounds too soft for me. I don't exactly know how to explain it, but I guess it's too minimalist? If I listen to 21st Century Schizoid there's sounds everywhere, with that nice guitar. With No-Man that sound isn't there.
I don't know though, I didn't like Porcupine Tree when I started listening to them either, maybe No-Man will grow on me the same way.

I thought that's what I meant. Even King Crimson had stuff like that. I listened to all their albums a couple months ago, even the couple I hadn't heard before. They don't seem to care at all about Thrak their one 90s album because they don't play anything off of it live anymore but I've come to appreciate it for what it is.

Is this bait? You must really have some weird feels if this is what gets you sobbing.
>>38882014
I've never seen Radiohead as minimalist, from the songs I've heard. However I don't listen to them very often.

Kill yourselves promptly. I know who you are and I know what you've been doing, and I fucking hate it.

I think they got more "arty" later on but it still wasn't enough to quench my need for virtuosity.

this track samples music on it, younger me would have hated it for being unoriginal but I've opened to sampling via hip-hop and EDM, the former of which steve wilson himself was into
