Would probably be the best answer although it depends on the type of episode.
Whenever I got angry towards my ex-FP, she would tell me that she was going to leave me alone to calm down and the fact that she was doing that to help me calmed me down but going off and doing my own thing helped me calm even more.
If it's a depressive episode, we just want to be loved and not feel alone, so affection would be the best option. Often in depressive episodes even if you are a bf/gf we will think that you don't really love us so we need that constant reassurance.
