Won't post them all here, but I mainly shoot surplus .30 caliber bolt actions since that's pretty much all that's legal where I am. I have a pistol too but I am a much worse shot with it than the rifles.

good thing is you can very easily swap out parts on your AR and make it better, all you need to do is get an upper of your choice (I like the A2 style with a carry handle and foreward assist) which can be as cheap as like 70 bucks, and probably a new bolt carrier if it doesnt have notches for a foreward assist, and then just swap your barrel to the new reciever (requires barrel wrench and torque wrench, maybe a new gas tube) reassemble your rifle, and youre good to go! youtube has plenty of good tutorials.

Sure, I own guns. I don't think I own a lot but the few people that know I own think I own a lot, just three dozen guns. I have mostly rifles but still have few shotguns and pistols.

Plenty of crazies have guns, legal or not. Sure, mentally deficient people cant legally buy firearms, but neither can felons and plenty of them run around with guns. If youre scared maybe you should invest some time into self defense classes? dunno where you live in but in most of the US you can take a concealed carry course and get a licence, and having and being proficient with firearms yourself helps protect you from someone misusing a firearm.

M1 Garand is exempted, belt feds before with belts made before 1945 are exempted. Yes, I have shot legal canada semi-auto only belt feds. A 1919 in 308 Win, and an M2HB. Only had enough cash for 20 rounds of 50 BMG but I let fly 50 rounds of 308 as fast as I could.

Most semi auto rifles worth owning are illegal in their uncucked forms where I am. My only semi auto is a mini 14 which is significantly less accurate than my bolt actions, but "good enough". I had a lot of trouble with the rear sight.

I mostly lurk on /k/.

I do have a soft spot for SVT-40s, I bought a few and I made one shorter than it usually is, like a haircut of sorts. It cycles and shoots really well, I'm quite taken with that one in particular.

I also like my AR-15, most of the parts are from LMT and the rest are from Colt, it's plain-looking but deceptively accurate and has been utterly unstoppable for reliability.

I have a hard time really choosing favorites, but I can say I have no real warm feelings towards a lot of Sig Sauer and SIG Swiss Arms firearms, like the Sig 226 pistol or SIG 550 rifles. There's nothing "wrong" with them but I simply don't like them for some feelings-based reasons, along with VZ-58 rifles. I think I'm over the SKS as well, especially when my short-haired SVT is 6 ounces lighter than a standard SKS, 1" longer overall, almost twice the power, same accuracy, detachable mags, soft recoil, and so on.

It's as difficult to own a black powder gun as it is smokeless powder.

In order to own a gun here you have to have a firearms license. You can only get one of those if you belong to a shooting club (there are none in my local area, btw). You also have to have an interview with the police, and they can deny you for basically no reason. It usually takes about six months to a year after applying for it to obtain it.

Here you can only own bolt-action and lever-action rifles and double-barrelled shotguns (pump-action shotguns are technically legal, but the maximum carrying capacity is so small for it to not be with the effort). You also have to justify each gun, and you can only own a maximum of five. Semi-auto rifles are also legal, but only if they're chambered in .22 cal.

Semi-auto rifles are banned except in Jersey and Guernsey, and handguns are banned completely except in Northern Ireland.

Damn it, where I live (People's Republic of Argentinistan), they only allow these in .22lr, which it sucks. Anything bigger than .22lr in rifles, it has to be, either not based on a military design, or have a fixed magazine (eg: SKS with welded floorplate, SAFN-49, M1 Garand, Gewehr 41, etc). It's funny because there's no restrictions on semiauto shotguns with detachable mags (Saiga, Vepr, SPAS-15).
There's no restrictions in rifle barrel length. Shotguns have to have a minimum barrel length of 15.5 inches.
With handguns, anything up to .44 Mag included. Exceptions are the Five-seveN, it's banned because 'muh penetration/muh cop killin' boolits'.
Forget about suppressor. Banned!
I'd love to own at least one milsurp bolt action rifle, before the goverment decides to ban all guns because "hurrr durr, da common gud, gunz iz bad".

I own one 10/22 with the intention of buying slavshit later on (Canadian). I was going to go to the range with my new gun then I learned you have to "break in" a rifle. Not only am I scared of the range rules and spilling my spaghetti, but now I have to clean it on range and do all this dumb shit. I'm just gonna go and shoot, forget breaking it in.

I do own own ATM, anon: a Ruger Mark III (blued, tapered 6" barrel, fixed sights), a .45 ACP Ballester Molina (an argie's gun collection wouldn't be complete without a BM or a FM Sistema Colt 1927) and a 9mm GEN 4 Glock 17.
I haven't seen an M1 Garand or an SKS in a gunshop in ages. The last one was an M1 with a polymer stock.
