Id agree, I also think though that it is mostly the major shifts in social interaction. The high pace of modern life causes people to act more on gut reactions and not think. Social interactions are also very shallow and so common that most people are devalued. On top of this, media (film, tv) only show the best looking people and i think that seeing good looking people as often as we do once again devalues the average person. Overstimulation is definitely to blame as well but that plays into the other points.

Tldr. World is too fast, too easy, and has too many people.

Many of the causes of depression in men is that the culture surrounding them puts a lot of expectations and standards for men that have long been realistically achievable or obtainable in some manner; especially for younger men. I agree man. The purposelessness of modern life is what's causing these feminists to do this shit. They have nothing better to do, which is why they complain about stupid shit like men sitting with their legs at an obtuse angle on subways and sexism in 30-year-old NES games. We have everything now, and we're bored, so we invent new problems and new monsters to fight just to give ourselves a sense of identity and meaning.

There's no community anymore, no neighborliness. Everyone just shuts themselves into their McMansions and watches the Kardashians. Suburbs and towns are basically just like human warehouses rather than neighborhoods and communities. My town was basically a small bedroom community that a bunch of young parents moved to when they had their first kid back in the 90's. I barely knew my neighbors except the few that were my age. I remember we had one neighborhood block party when I was a kid, but never had any other community events ever again, and my neighbors rarely talked to each other. I'm 21 now, and everyone is just moving away and the town feels emptier and emptier whenever I come back from uni. The people have no attachment to where they live or the people they live with. They're rootless and have no desire to put any down.

It just seems like the modern world is just such a cold, lifeless place. Everyone is so arrogant, self-centered, apathetic and cruel. It's things like this that are why people like us exist. I'm sure robots have existed forever, but in the past there were still people there for them. They were still part of a community, even if they were slightly emotionally removed from it. Everyone is in a hurry to leave things behind now. I'm going to do so myself pretty soon, as I'm planning on moving to NYC after I finish uni, and although I'm looking forward to it now since my town is so boring and abandoned, I'm afraid I'll end up just as lonely as before.

Anyway, some people are weak, not always through some sort of moral failing, but through circumstance.

The way the world works now, everything is disposable. No one cares about sentimentality or tradition or leaving a legacy behind anymore. Everyone has become selfish and bitter. People turn their heads and walk away when another is in need. More people are depressed now because this is just a depressing world to live in.
