It's not a bad idea, but there's no telling when or how severe a crash will be. My suggestion is to wait for a sizeable dip. Right now BTC is at nearly $3000, but for the next few days it will be very volatile because of the fork that's happening. There may very well be a dip that happens because of that, which makes it a good time to buy. Don't let yourself succumb to the fear of missing out and buy at the top.
