Does /r9k/ meditate? If so how, when, and why?
>>38560049
Do you Anon?
Any noticable improvements?
>>38560433
no but I've heard a lot of anons talking about it
>>38560049
Yes.
The usual way (sometimes walking instead),
I try to daily,
Because I feel like it helps me.
>walking doesn't help
>running doesn't help
>yoga didn't help
>neither did working out
>nor medication
>not even meditation
I'm at my rope's end, almost literally

get a hobby faggot
deep dive into something
>>38560831
I tried to pick reading back up, and that didn't work either. I used to read books all the time, it was my first real passion, and now I can't even get excited for that.
>>38560859
That's nice.
Get a hobby, faggot.
Yes, I meditate either with a rhythmic breath pattern or chanting sanskrit mantra. Ideally at least 7 minutes a day 7 times a week, either at home or at yoga class. Chanting meditation is far superior to the 'sit quietly and empty your mind' mind of meditation
>>38560912
>Chanting meditation is far superior
You could probably meditate more.
>>38560900
>reading
>not a hobby
>>38560936
i can see why reading didn't work out for you
>>38560957
i can see why you need to post here instead of having people to talk to irl
>>38560912
kek can you imagine the typical robot at yoga?
>>38561010
i still suggest a hobby.
>need
ok.
>>38560049
I've been trying, also working on a tulpa
>>38560049
>how
observing the mind and the happenings of it
>when
24/7
>why
I have no choice
>>38560049
I do deep breathing and rhythmically tense/relax different muscle groups in order to relieve stress. I feel that meditation is most effective for me when I do it in nature; the feeling that I get when meditating in natural environments is almost spiritual.
Only when the desires to kill people get unbearable.

Isn't that just mindfulness? Part of meditation but not the same thing.
I could never stick with it. I get anxious as hell when I'm not doing or thinking about anything and I don't have the discipline to get through it.
>>38561268
I don't know desu. I'll have to look it up, but in my mind, honestly I see "mindfulness" as pretty much the same word as "meditation", but just with less "baggage".
in other words, the idea of mindfulness seems less complicated than the idea of meditation.
do you have a technique? You may be going about it in a wrong way. a lot of people in the West think meditation is about trying to stop your thoughts or concentration, but that's what happens when you practically play telephone with foreign concepts.
No. I used to every morning but I can't seem to get back into the habit of it. I really crave a shower and a coffee when I wake up and by then I feel like it's too late to meditate.
It's incredibly satisfying once you start to get it right. I don't just mean increased happiness or mindfulness or whatever, the act itself is incredibly pleasurable once you start to pick it up.

Well I can't sit comfortably more than 10 minutes at a time and need to put my ass on a yoga block to get my knees to relax down. Last year I forced myself into full lotus position to meditate, but it hurts my knees, ankles and feet, also cuts off circulation.

what makes it pleasurable?
>>38561376
I went to a couple guided meditation sessions, and it was pretty much what you described. Sometimes sitting, sometimes walking. Maybe I need to find a source that knows what they're talking about.
>gentle reminder that meditation comes from Bhuddism which is a heretical religion
>follow Jesus or burn in hell
>meditation is satanic
>>38560049
buddist robot here as ironic as it sounds...
meditate everyday.
20 min in the morning before work
3 times a day if im off.
helps me cope with life.
im fairly a noob buddist but im also new. decided to turn my life around a year ago. meditation really helps me cope with depression. when I meditate it helps keep it at bay but when I dosent for a while it come back fast.

kill yourself christcuck
>>38561522
Well, when I get it right, I'm paying complete attention to my breath, body and posture, and it's an incredibly interesting experience, like the feeling when you first open a present, constantly every moment. I don't know if that's normal, but it's kind of like you are in a constant state of being awed by conscious experience without letting it bother you.
>>38562120
are you implying that you experience a feeling of bliss, my friend?
>>38562142
>supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment:
Hmm, I suppose so. The word has a weird connotation, it makes me think of being high, which is like submitting to some transcendent happiness. This is more like consciously engaging fully in normal experience, which you happen to notice is amazing, but not in a spaced out or weird way.
>>38562301
aw. I was hoping you would have been engulfed by that transcendental happiness they talk about in those eastern religions. I get where you're coming from though, and it's still pretty damn cool.
