Just stick to one game for a long time try an MMO like WoW or something. Like all things it takes practice. Quit thinking "Im bad at this game I'm gonna try something else" you'll never get good like that

Also try harder difficulties , don't just sit there on normal/easy mode. And go for the challenge levels

Your expectations are probably just rising with your experience. Don't worry about it. Just play vidya for fun times.
You just described all of /v/
The only thing I care to improve in are team based games, but then you either do bad and embarrass yourself or do good and your team blows it so you get internally mad. The enjoyment to pain ratio is all off
>was really good at FPS in my youth
>try to play them now
>Suck big balls
>Can't get better

Have you tried looking up a guide? Sometimes you can be a good player but lack strategy/game knowledge like what guns are best/etc.
