You can still be divorced (though, in today's day and age your guaranteed to be divorced), lose half your assets and then still have to pay for the kids.

Nah, first off don't get kids, your gene pool will get polluted unless you're dating someone as smart as yourself. Second, the way the tax would work is rather than getting taxes based on wages etc., you get tax level 3 and 7 (I think) to distribute as you like, with the person not working or earning less taking the higher taxes.

Logically the reward doesn't outweigh the risk, but then you could use the same to justify suicide. Better dead now than to potentially end up dying a horrible painful death.
