Yes. Everyone is always selling someone something not necessary a physical object or to be paid with money.
Even a random grill trying to tell you she's into nerdy stuff is selling you that idea of her.

Don't misunderstand me.
Not everyone is out to get you to use you and then dump you, tho there is a good number of that people out there.
This is one of the things people do without even realizing don't take it personal.

Cynicism does more bad than good in the long run.
