Yes, Runescape was playable until RS3 when it became a full-on WoW clone with zero respect for the original gameplay or lore.
Then OSRS launched and was great for awhile, until the devs listened to reddit for every shitty update then went back to forcing shitty updates nobody asked for to begin with.

Literally every other mmo is a korean grindfest or WoW clone. You are seriously better off just abandoning the genre.

Dragon Nest was neat for awhile until you realize it's just burning through shitty mobs that can't really fight back.

I'm planning on trying WoW and FFXIV again (I tried them both a tiny bit) and I also picked up BDO on sale. I know it's shit but a couple of my friends love it so at least I've got people to play with in advance.

Does OSRS really suck now? I was planning on picking that back up (RuneScape is the only MMORPG I've got any real experience with) so I'd have something to click on while watching TV. Did they ruin it?

MMOs are for people who want to run away from life fast. if this isnt what you want stick to overwatch. the glory days of MMOs are over too, so your best bet for a good experience is an obscure WoW private server or a low pop game no one ever heard of (thus i cant give you recommendations). the community is much more important than the game itself imo.

EVE is pretty fun if you have the patience. It's absolutely filled with IT oriented people for some reason.

Once you get in the swing of things there is no other game like it. Hitting your afterburners while breaking away from your fleet to pop a kiting enemy ship into space scrap is an experience you'll never get from another game.

Except maybe X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter if anyone else played that.

I've tried a few, but always end up dropping them after a few weeks. The grind and boring combat systems kill MMOs for me. I'd love an MMO that actually felt like an action game, TERA was as close as I've found but it turned into Korean grindfest hell too.

Oh, tons. I spent a lot of my time as a kid just downloading and trying every MMO I thought looked cool. Lord of the Rings Online had to be my favorite that I played. It was only good through the first couple expansions though and now it's just gone into the toilet.

I had a roleplay GF in World of Warcraft for 7 months, we pretended we lived in a house just outside stormwind (which was an actual ingame building where we RP'd) and I was a retired paladin who went on the Alliance Expedition brought home after the Dark Portal opened, she was a Priest who trained in the healing arts and helped assist in the fall of the Lich King.

Right now I'm on WoW on wyrmrest, my character is a secret trap(using female character model, but rping like she has a dick) who was raised by gnomes, so she's good with tech, and subsequently went on to become a lone mercenary (using hunter class, but not using pet) with a thirst for adventure. She's currently heading to icecrown to use a device she designed to throw her into the past to try and save her father, who was killed during the fall of the lich king.

I've dumped a good chunk of my life in MMOs. I got good in my later years, but the only thing I have to show for it is I was in the top PvPers in Rift and Gw2. Currently in FFXIV trying to reach the top there as well. I just want a friend at the end of the day, you'd think being a top PvPer would make you friends but jealousy is all I got. I've been alone for so long now.

Mostly with non-traditional ones like Runescape. You have to really enthrall me if you want me to play WoW/a shitty clone, like when Tera first launched. Only wow clone I kinda could stand was Eden Eternal, and that was only because I was still underage, was obsessed with being seen as le geek xd, and I liked anime. Got to around level 40~60. Tried WoW and barely got to level 6, so boring.

There is no other game that has such depth as NetHack, save maybe, maaaaybe for Dwarf Fortress but it's not a bird's eye view of some big thing. You're a sole adventurer.

The leveling content is EXTREMELY boring. Nothing takes more than 10% health from you, the ""quests""" last two minutes because you have to kill/collect three mobs with 100 droprates. Braindead.I got to level 30 before I gave up.

Well I've made a lot of accounts, but you can do lots of things like fishing or cooking or fighting or magic or merching or role playing or anything really. Currently I'm following an efficiency guide for ironmen to get max stats as fast as possible.

If you're interested, I'd highly suggest going into the game blind and playing on f2p worlds. F2p worlds have a lot of scummy people but they also harbor the only people who talk in the game, which was how it was similarly in 2006. There's a shit ton of content in f2p if you've never played before and you can make tons of friends. When you make enough money and you're still interested you can buy a bond and play as a member, although I'd suggest continuing to make money as bonds only last 14 days.

I played a serious amount of Tera for a while. My guild dropped dead after I left for a month or two, so I also quit.
Also, played Archeage during beta and twice for their rereleases. Everyone you know will agree with me when I say that Archeage was best during the beta and that their release game was a joke. The game got ""better"" after each rerelease but the KOREANS just can't keep their hands off the pot of western shekels and just traded it's success for quick profits.
I played EVE but always gave up before getting into the pvp
I fucking hate ffxiv with a passion and guildwars sucks.
