i took xanax a grand total of once and it was revelatory. i felt great. i had no problems talking to people. i went to a fucking party (was in college at the time) and talked to people and felt fantastic. it was like literally all of my anxiety had been purged from my being, but it wasn't the stupid uninhibited kind of no-anxiety that you get when you're drunk

i remember thinking to myself, "oh yeah, i understand how people get addicted to this"

i have never taken it again because i know i will become some kind of benzo fiend. my self-control is not strong enough to survive being prescribed the pills

I took it for 2 weeks to stop myself bugging out while quitting weed after 9 years. I was so productive i got a better higher paying job, found side work for extra cash, slept with more girls. Now i've lost a year with a lot of memory loss and i throw ternage tantrums if i cant get any, but that feeling of being a constant jar of wasps is gone when i have it. I've never felt worse than going cold turkey (not by choice) after a year and a half of steady comfort dosing. I had been suicidal before, but that withdrawal was something i'd never felt.
