That was supposed to be a roach but it looks more like a beetle

>supposed to be a roach
Kafka never specified it was a roach, just like the Holy Bible never mentions Eve offering Adam an apple.

Not textless but pic still related

It wasn't meant to be a roach. It was a dung beetle

The fruit was obviously referring to her pussy. I don't get why people think it's supposed to be an actual fruit.

What the fuck are you smoking, you're saying original sin is an allegory for how sexual reproduction started? Before then all the other animals just walked around in pairs and ate food?
>>38393727
Original sin is what cursed Eve with periods and the pain of childbirth. The fuck do you think it was referring to?
Stick a fork in it

You had to ruin the thread you stupid asshole, everyone knows it's Kafka, duh we all read it in high school, at least here in the US, kys faggot
>>38393619
Symbolically the "fruit from the Tree of Knowledge" could mean a lot of things, that's just one (somewhat morally simplistic) take on it. Anyway the point is that it's never specified as an apple.
>>38393619
an interesting interpretation which actually makes sense when you think about it
This thread is so Kafkaesque.
Remember summer days.

What highschool did you go to that made you read The Metamorphosis? I didn't meet anyone who even knew who Kafka was until college. Even now they're pretty sparse.

Im in Texas, it was just a public suburban high school, we read it in junior English, I thought all high schools did?... Sorry for going off like that, my tum hurts I'm in a lousy mood

It depends on the teacher. I never read Shakespeare or The Scarlet Letter (thank god) but never Kafka. I read The Giver, some gay book about 3 kids where one kills themselves at the end, The Bar Code Tattoo and I actually think that's pretty much it ... OH the Old Man and the Sea. That was the worst one by far.

And Where the Red Fern Grows. I hated that one too.

Actually Texas has some pretty strict laws, so we have to read a Shakespeare play each year as well as novels like The Great Gatsby, The Scarlet Letter, Brave New World etc and smaller works like The Metamorphasis, The Crucible, etc. the teacher can choose from selected works in some cases but can't randomly add his own choice, like "class today we're reading The Hunger Games lol"
It's kinda funny cause I did a semester at community college and some of the professors taught English courses that included songs by Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Eminem as "literature" and fluff novels like Dracula, The Lovely Bones, etc which is when I learned to appreciate the intellectual vigor my high school gave its students

In my highschool Latin II class half the year was spent on the Metamorphises, in Latin, but outside of you that's the only other situation I've known a class to read it
such are the rules of the board

Nigger are you talking about Ovid?

I might have read Old Yeller too, and I remember voluntarily reading Charlie Manson's biography and The Doors of Perception/Brave New World before I graduated. Only because the school library actually had those books for some reason.
>>38396280
Charles Manson's biography? You mean Helter Kelter?
