funny I recently heard of a near death experience of a woman burning in hell beneath the Earth. They were mocking her and saying things like "You think the Earth can save you, then here's a rock see if it can save you." Then a bunch of them were throwing rocks at the woman and laughing. The myth of Eden is fascinating. Man and woman lived blissfully until the woman found herself seduced by the serpent and his lies. Not content with Heaven, greedy Eve grasped at the chance to have even more. And it was only because Adam was terrified of losing his beloved that he followed her into sin.

The thing of it is, the serpent in the original story was not a devil. The serpent was God's cleverest creation, more intelligent than even the human beings made in God's image. The serpent dwelt in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil after all.

Though maligned as wicked, the serpent only did what those who know are compelled to do: teach those who don't. Adam and Eve lived as children, so innocent they weren't even aware of their own nakedness. The Garden was nothing more than a nursery. And the Lord, a possessive parent terrified that His children would grow up and leave Him, lied. He told them that if they ate of the fruit they would die, hoping fear would keep them infants forever. Some claim tasting the fruit introduced sin and thus death. Yet, were this the case, why did the Elohim drive fallen man and women from the Garden before they could also eat from the Tree of Life and, doing so, become like unto God Himself?

Of the two, it was the woman and not the man who wanted to be more than an overgrown child, a dull plaything of jealous Father. It was only because of his desire for Eve that Adam took a bite of the forbidden fruit and followed her into adulthood.

Eve's crime was snapping the bars of the playpen. Adam would have died regardless; he had never eaten from the Tree of Life. The only difference is that he and his sons went to their graves as men, building civilizations, dreaming new philosophies, creating wondrous inventions, rather than as drooling infants fidgeting with their toys.
